Meet the 2030 FuelEU Maritime requirement without grid upgrades or multi-million euro onshore power supply (OPS) investments. The Nexus PowerPack delivers 500 kW of certified zero-emission power using hydrogen fuel cells — completely independent of the electricity grid.
Deployable on any quay, in any port, operational in days instead of years. Perfect for ports without existing OPS infrastructure, temporary berths, seasonal demand peaks, or as backup during grid outages.
Plug & play zero-emission power that keeps vessels compliant and ports competitive.
Ports Want to Electrify — But the Grid Can't Keep Up
Grid congestion is delaying port electrification across Europe. A fixed onshore power supply (OPS) installation costs €3–10 million per berth and requires years of grid reinforcement work. Many ports simply cannot access sufficient grid capacity in time to meet regulatory deadlines.
Meanwhile, the EU FuelEU Maritime Regulation mandates that from 1 January 2030, all container and passenger ships of 5,000 gross tonnage or above must achieve zero emissions at berth when calling at TEN-T core ports.
Ships without access to shore power face substantial financial penalties. Ports risk losing traffic to competitors who can offer compliant berthing solutions. The clock is ticking, and traditional infrastructure timelines won't meet the deadline.
2030 Mandate
Zero emissions at berth required for all container and passenger vessels ≥5,000 GT in TEN-T ports
Grid Delays
Grid upgrade lead time averages 5–8 years — far beyond the 2030 compliance deadline
High Penalties
A single 10-hour, 1 MW non-compliant call can incur approximately €15,000 in FuelEU penalties
Plug & Play Zero-Emission Shore Power
The Nexus PowerPack Solution
The Nexus PowerPack delivers 500 kW of certified zero-emission power using advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology. Completely independent of the electricity grid, it can be deployed on any quay, in any port, becoming operational in days rather than years.
Purpose-built for maritime environments, the PowerPack is ideal for ports without existing OPS infrastructure, handling OPS outages, overcoming grid capacity constraints, serving temporary berths, or managing seasonal traffic peaks.
Plug & Play
No infrastructure required. Deploy on any quay without civil works or grid connection delays.
Avoid Penalties. Cut Fuel Costs. Improve Port Performance.
Deploying mobile zero-emission shore power delivers immediate financial and operational benefits across multiple dimensions. The business case for the Nexus PowerPack extends well beyond regulatory compliance.
Avoid FuelEU Penalties
Eliminate at-berth penalties that can exceed €15,000 per vessel call for non-compliant operations

Proven Performance
The Nexus Energy PowerPack isn't a concept — it's already delivering real results in demanding operational environments across the Netherlands.
In recent pilot projects with Van Oord, one of the world's leading marine contractors, the PowerPack unit has delivered more than 2,000 operating hours, enabling fully emission-free dredging operations in sensitive coastal environments.
This groundbreaking work earned recognition with the Rabobank Innovation Award 2025, validating both the technology and its practical application in real-world maritime operations.
"Emission-free operations powered by the Nexus Energy PowerPack demonstrate that we can meet the most stringent environmental requirements without compromising operational efficiency."
